BALDWIN – The Baldwin Panthers are the No. 9 -ranked boys basketball team in the state in Division 4 for many reasons.

Among them is SJ Hossler and Carmelo Lindsey who continue to play solid basketball on both ends of the court.

After a recent outstanding defensive effort against Marion in a key West Michigan D league game, Hossler pointed out some of the key aspects of the D.

“It’s just communication and things like that,” he said.

Hossler has been playing despite a fractured bone in his hand and has been trying to get back to 100 percent.

“We just have to work hard and have communication,“ Hossler said

He said his strengths have included his defense and shooting.

Lindsey, the team’s leading scorer, agreed defense has been a key for his team.

“I feel confident right now,” he said. “We have to keep working.”

It’s also important, Lindsey said, for the team, to be playing with discipline and stay out of foul trouble.
