Baldwin 62, Mason County Eastern 45
CUSTER -- Baldwin was up 20-9 after the first quarter, 37-23 at halftime and 51-36 after the third quarter in this win on Feb. 15.
“We played a nice opening quarter but could never put them away,” Baldwin coach JJ Eads said. “MCE played well tonight. We have to do better playing a complete game. Carmelo was big tonight with 27 points and six steals.
“SJ Hossler added 14 points, and David Lee had nine. We’ll have to play better on Friday (at home) against a very good Mesick team.”
Beal City 47, Pine River 3
Pine River led 10-7 after the first quarter and it was tied 21-21 at halftime. Beal City had a 15-6 scoring advantage in the third and 11-6 in the fourth.
“We played a solid first half,” coach Brian Goodenow said. “We trusted our stuff and used our size advantage in the post. But in the second half we let their pressure speed us up and force us into a boatload of turnovers.”
Pine River is 4-12 overall and 3-9 in the league.
