BALDWIN — Davon Williams is among the several freshmen being counted upon by the Baldwin football coaching staff to get the job done in upcoming games.

Baldwin, 0-1, plays home against Mesick on Friday.

He made his debut in the 71-0 loss to Camden-Frontier on Aug. 25 in the season opener.

As a running back, Williams’ focus is going wide.

“Defense and blocking” are critical elements for the Panthers to focus on as they prepare for upcoming opponents, Williams said.

“It’s important to get a win and keep our (home game) winning streak going,” Williams said.

The Panthers won all their home games last season. They had a home game against Bear Lake canceled last week because of the area storm damage.

He’s a starting outside linebacker on defense. Williams indicated he can anticipate where the ball is going and is solid in wrapping up tackles.
