Two Baldwin football players earned honors

Lindsey and McClure selected to all-league team

BALDWIN – Two Baldwin football players have been selected to the All-West Michigan D League team.

Coach Robert Watkins said junior quarterback Carmelo Anthony and offensive senior center Adam McClure were selected.

McClure plays both sides of the ball.

“Adam is actually a four-starter,” Watkins said. “He was the only senior we had on the team this year. We kind of depended on him for leadership on our young line. He was consistent all year long.

“He was a part of the glue that kept us together.”

Lindsey was also a defensive back.

“Carmelo was our MVP,” Watkins said. “He was our main man to go to. I’m excited he’s gotten better each year. I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s going to do next year.”

It was his best season, Watkins added.

“He’s always been a scrambler,” Watkins said. “He’s impressed me with the fact he took the role as a offensive threat and played defense for us and was also on our special teams. In previous years we were able to cover and hide him. But this year, he stepped up.”
