BIG RAPIDS -- Turkey hunting in Area K, which continues until the end of the month. in area counties, is headed into its final weeks.

"Turkey season continues to go well," Tom Vernon, of Frank's Sporting Goods, in Morley said.

A spokesperson at Triggertime Outfitters in Big Rapids agreed.

"Turkey season has been going pretty good," he said. "A lot of guys have been successful the first two seasons."

Al Remus, of Reed City, is currently hunting turkeys this month.

"I've seen a few but I have not pulled a trigger on any yet," he said.

"It's pretty scarce around where I'm hunting. I can hear them but they do not want to come to a call."

Expected poor weekend weather could hinder hunting, but conditions are expected to get better by the start of next week.

Remus has hunted for several years and usually has success. He usually hunts on a farm north of Reed City. He's friends with another successful turkey hunter, Terry Getts of Big Rapids.
