Sportsman club continues with fund-raiser

BALDWIN -- Lake County Sportsman Club president Len Todd said he is still looking for volunteers to staff ticket sales at the Dublin Store on June 5 and 6.

"Raffle ticket sales is our primary fund raising activity," he said in his report. "Our goal this year is to sell $22,000 worth of tickets. This will allow us to complete the scheduled 2021 projects and still put some more dollars into the building fund."

The Lake County Sportsman Club is having its first 3-Gun Shoot event on June 19. It is open to all members and the general public.

The club is located east of Baldwin off of McKinley Road.

The club is planning to have a pot luck luncheon. The club will supply the meat. The participants are asked to bring a dish to pass.

The participants supply their own guns and ammo, "which should not be an issue because they are only shooting each gun five times," Todd said. "Should you not have any shotgun shells good for trap, the club will have a limit of 12-gauge shotgun shells available for purchase.

Participants will be shooting up to five shots each of their shotgun, rifle and pistol.

This will be an opportunity to see and use the club's new trap machine.

Registration is 11 a.m. to noon and shooting is 12:30 p.m. until complete.

The events include the 100-yard long gun shoot. It includes any caliber and each participant gets a target. Each shooter gets five shots and target and gets scored. There's a total maximum points of 50 for the event.

The second event is a 100-yard pistol shoot and each participant gets a target. Each shooter gets five shots and a target and gets scored. The total maximum is 50 points for the event.

The bullet holes must be fully in higher number to qualify for that number. Shooters supply their own ammo.

The third event is a shot gun shoot and each shooter will get 5-clay pigeons. The club supplies the pigeons. Each pigeon hit is 10 points. The total points is 50 for this event.

The fourth event is the combination of entering all three events for a separate score and cash prize. Scores for all three events for each shooter are totaled to determine the winner.

Onsite food service will be provide from 11 a.m to 12:30 p.m. The club will provide hot dogs, brats burgers and soft drinks. Participants may bring a dish to pass.
