BALDWIN — Kendra Speer did not play volleyball for Baldwin last season, but is on the squad as a senior, and has been a strong addition for the Panthers.

She had played volleyball as a freshman and sophomore.

“Last year I couldn’t play because I transferred,” Speer who did play basketball for the 2017-18 Panthers basketball team, said. “Usually I’m the striker and the second hitter.”

The keys to being a good hitter, Speer said, “is keep your eye on the ball and stay focused. I feel I could hit it a little harder.”

Speer also does some hitting.

“You need to have good feet,” she said.

Speer indicated the Panthers played well as a team in a 3-1 loss on Tuesday to Crossroads. But she indicated she needed to have a better performance.

“We have to talk and communicate,” Speer said. “I want to talk and help my team. We can get better every game.”

This team has some more experience than others she’s been on, Speer indicated.
