BALDWIN — Mariah Sowle is back for her third season on the Baldwin varsity volleyball team with hopes of providing key leadership in the Panthers’ quest for a successful campaign.

Sowle has been among the top players for the Panthers in recent seasons, and figures on this being the case again for 2018.

Passing and outside hitting are among her main duties.

To be an effective passer, “you have to get down for the ball,” Sowle said. “I hope to hit (the ball) harder.”

She also hopes to be more consistent on her hits.

The practice season had various delays but Sowle is hopeful the team could get back on track and be ready for the West Michigan D League season.

Serve receive is critical for the Panthers, Sowle added.

The Panthers play at Mesick on Thursday. They will be at home on Oct. 2 with Brethren.
