Softball teams get ready for Troutarama tourney

BALDWIN —  Softball drama will hit the Baldwin area this week as part of the Troutarama festivities.

Curt Gravatt of the Baldwin Men’s Softball League said action starts 9 a.m. on Saturday. The last game is scheduled to start 12:45 p.m. on Sunday.

Games are at both diamonds at Hollister Park. The championship game will be on the field without lights. The defending champion is not returning to the tournament this season.

There are 12 teams registered for the tournament.

“Usually we have 12 teams,” Gravatt said. “But it’s down this year.”

Baldwin Men’s League action hit high gear on Tuesday with H&H defeating M-37 Meat Shack, 19-14, and Baldwin Bowling Center topping Knights 31-8.

All teams played a doubleheader. In the second game, it was Baldwin Bowling Center, 21-17, over Meat Shack and H&H over Knights, 27-8.

The latest available standings had Government Lake, which had a bye Tuesday night, at 11-3. Meat Shack was 9-7, followed by H&H at 6-4, Baldwin Bowling Center 2-8 and Knights at 0-12.

Gravatt said three local teams will be at the Troutarama tournament, including the Baldwin Bowling Center. Government Lake players will be on a team sponsored by Lake-Osceola State Bank. The third team doesn’t have an official name.
