Salmon wrapping up, steelhead on the move locally
BALDWIN - Fishing has been making the transition from salmon to steelhead in Lake County.
"It's been very quiet around here," Doug Loomis of Ed's Sport Shop said.
"Most of the salmon have spots on them. They've reported fresh ones. For the most part, it's steelhead. They're here in good numbers."
Dylan Willetts of the Pere Marquette River Lodge agreed.
"Salmon is about wrapped up and we have steelhead in the river," he said. "Fishing has been pretty good lately."
Jake McMillon of Baldwin Bait and Tackle.
"Things are good," he said. "Steelhead fishing is slowly picking up. There's nothing hot and heavy but the bite is there. They're spread out in sections through out the river. Were virtually all done with kings."
Trout fishing has been productive. There's a lot of eggs and nymph patterns. There's not much lake activity."
