LEROY — Pine River senior Hailey Wanstead has recently put the finishing touches on her high school basketball career.

After a quality senior season, it is certain that Wanstead’s efforts for the Bucks on the basketball court won’t soon be forgotten.

Pine River girls’ basketball coach Paula Justin had nothing but positive things to say about the departing Wanstead.

“Hailey was our steady the entire season,” Justin said. “She scored 20 points multiple times this season.”

Wanstead was also the team’s top scorer and rebounder. Throughout the season, Wanstead averaged 14.3 points and eight rebounds per game.

“Hailey is a very hardworking and coachable athlete,” Justin said. “She put a lot of personal time in (during) the offseason to improve her skills. She is also a great student and carries a 3.8 GPA.”

She has been named First Team All Highland Conference, and was also a recipient of the BCAM Outstanding Senior Scholar Athlete Award.

A three-sport athlete, Wanstead also competes on the Pine River track and cross-country teams.
