Pine River girls defeat Reed City

Bucks fall to Evart in first game

REED CITY –  Evart rallied over Pine River in the first semifinal game of the Reed City Crossroads Invitational on Saturday 6-5. Skylar Baumgardner and JoJo Tiedt had two hits each for Evart.

“We played really good ball today,” Pine River coach Mike Nelson said. “We’ve been in kind of a slump. We gave Evart a good ballgame. They scored in the bottom of the seventh. The kids played tough. The pitching was tough.

“We’ve struggled having two good games back-to-back, but we did it against Reed City.”

Pine River won over Reed City 10-5 in the consolation game.

In the first round, RC lost to Ludington 9-5.

In the second game, to Pine River, Reed City fell behind early and was unable to come back. Paityn Enos took the loss, going seven innings allowing 12 hits and 10 runs while striking out four. Hitters in the game with one hit each were Paityn Enos, Kyleigh Weck, Myah Beard and Hannah Stellini.

For Pine River against Reed City, Sadler Mumby was the winning pitcher for the Bucks. Madi Sparks had three hits including two doubles and five RBIs.

Pine River and Reed City play each other in a district semifinal game on June 4.


Pine River 19, Manton 4

This Tuesday (May 17) second game went three innings. Nate Marks had a two hitter as the winning pitcher. Blood had two hits with a double and two RBIs. Cole Hill had two hits. Lockhart had a triple and two RBIs. Larr had a single and three RBIs. Hoon Yang had a double and RBI.

Pine River is 12-6 overall and 6-1 in the league.
