BALDWIN - The Baldwin Panthers take a 1-4 record to Marion for a Friday football game with the host Eagles celebrating their homecoming.

The Panthers had their Tuesday practice interrupted by lightning. Coach Bob Watkins was hoping to have a full practice on Wednesday to get ready for the Friday name.

The junior high was scheduled to play on Wednesday. Former Baldwin player Damon Nichols has been among the members of Watkins' coaching staff this season.

"He's doing OK," Watkins said. "He's very energetic. He's able to get down and demonstrate to kids better than I can."

Marion lost 22-0 to Mesick on Friday.

"We had a couple of defensive breakdowns but to give a potent offense like Mesick only two offensive touchdowns (is impressive)," Marion coach Chad Grundy said. "We had two chances in the first half inside the 20 but had big penalties that ended drives and you can't win games when you turn the ball over four times."
