Panthers falls to CCA

BALDWIN — Baldwin’s girls basketball team fell to 0-5 with a 43-21 loss to Crossroads Charter Academy on Friday.

CCA improves to 4-2.

Soraya Angell had 22 points for CCA, while McKenzie Cole had 10 points.

“It was a good game overall,” CCA coach Tom Welsh said. “We had good hustle. Five kids scored.”

Baldwin coach Alex Torres said freshman Jenna Johnson had a strong game.

Marissa Wroblewski played the entire game. Marlena Wroblewski, Mariah Sowle and Taliyah Lewis also played key minutes for Baldwin.

Baldwin’s game with Grand Rapids Ellington on Tuesday was snowed out. There was no word on a makeup date. Torres is working with the team, assisted by Rusty Fullerton.

“I really appreciate Rusty stepping up and helping me out,” Torres said.

Baldwin has yet to make any announcement on a new coach to replace Lee Vickers, who resigned in December.

The Baldwin girls are scheduled to play Friday at Walkerville and Monday at Muskegon Heights. They will host Manistee Catholic on Jan. 20.
