BALDWIN — It was a full house at the Merrill Township Hall on Saturday for the annual banquet of the Bitely-Baldwin chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation.

Along with the dinner, the event featured silent auctions and prize drawings to help raise money for the NWTF and its habitant.

“We’re set up for about 130 and I think we’re going to be close,” chapter president Barry Baldwin said on Saturday. “There’s a lot of regulars here. I’ve seen some new faces as well. A lot of them are from the Bitely area. We get them from Baldwin, We get a number of folks from White Cloud. It seems to be expanding out every year.”

Baldwin said he’s talked to hunters the first two seasons who indicated they had hunting success. The final season started on May 7.

“It looks like this been successful,” he said. “The weather has broken and it’s bringing the hunters out. It was really nasty there for awhile.”
