BALDWIN — Baldwin has a young football team this season, but will boast plenty of talented players including Mason Pieske, a wide receiver, linebacker and kicker.

Pieske is a freshman, but did play junior high football last season.

“We lost two games but did not take the title,” he said.

On defense, Pieske likes contact and will use his speed to get to the ball.

Baldwin was having a transition in the athletic department over the summer and players like Pieske didn’t get in too much work until practices started on Aug 6.

“I came in and lifted weights,” he said. “I’m strong for my size (5-foot-2, 120 pounds).”

Baldwin opens its season at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Camden-Frontier. The first home game will be on Aug. 31 against Bear Lake.
