MCC girls varsity defeats Baldwin

BALDWIN — Manistee Catholic Central improved to 6-4 by winning the girls varsity basketball game, prior to the boys contest 62-21 Friday night against Baldwin.

Jordan Barnett led by Sabers with 16 points while Haley Doyle added 14. Alex Torres scored 14 for Baldwin, 2-6.

“I thought we had this game,” Torres said. “But we didn’t have practice. We’ll get it next time. We’re getting there.”

MCC led at halftime 35-12.

“I think I did pretty good,” said Torres, noting that the snowstorms that hit the area last week disrupted class and practice time. “We hadn’t had practice for the whole week. No school, no practice or

games.”

On Saturday, Baldwin was awarded a forfeit victory at Traverse City Christian. It’s the second forfeit victory of the season for the Panthers.

“I want to work on my offense and a little bit on defense,” Torres said. “I want to make those good passes.”

Baldwin is home Thursday against Crossroads.
