Local anglers enjoying a strong season

BALDWIN - Fishing remains strong in Lake County.

"They're buying pike minnows, but have slowed down on perch and crappie minnows," Doug Loomis of Ed's Sport Shop in Baldwin said.

"The river is a little icy," a spokeswoman at the Pere Marquette River Lodge said. "Obviously, the temperatures are very cold. I do have guides going out for several days, so after Friday, I'll have a better report. We just haven't had any anyone out there on the river this week."

Jess Ferrucci, of Baldwin Bait & Tackle said "things are going really well. The fishing is mostly focused on ice fishing right now. People are really doing good on all the lakes around here. On the river, steelhead is doing pretty good as well."
