Lake Osceola Bank still in first place

BALDWIN — The race in the Baldwin Men’s Slowpitch Softball League is headed into its late stages.

Coming into action this week, Lake Osceola Bank was in first place at 14-0, followed by Brothers at 11-3, Northwest Realty at 9-6, Government Lake at 8-8, Edies at 3-12 and Barski at 0-16.

“So far so good,” said league president Curt Gravatt. “It’s going to be between the bank and Brothers. Next week is the last week. We have to make up a game on the following Monday.”

Games are played during the week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the diamonds three blocks west of the Lake County Courthouse.

League postseason tournaments start Aug. 8, 9 and 10.

The six teams have been able to handle weather conditions rather well this season.

“There was only one makeup game so far,” Gravatt said.
