BALDWIN – John Beach is the vice president of the Lake County Sportsman Club and is getting ready for a busy spring.

In early March, “we had some boy scouts out for a camping thing,” Beach said. “I know they had some boys out there and they camped out. We’ll be putting in a new traphouse and a new trap machine.”

During the winter months, not much activity is taking place since there is still no actual clubhouse.

“We’re putting in a 4-H archery range and the instructor at the last meeting had a parents’ meeting for the kids and I think they were going to do some indoor stuff fairly quick,” Beach said. “We’re getting ready for the 4-H kids for the spring.

“Once the winter breaks, we have a lot of stuff going on. We have two 3-gun shoots we’ll have this year. We have the site-in days in the fall.”

The clubgrounds are available for members to use with the two pistol ranges and 100-, 200-and 300-yard rifle ranges, along with the trap field and archery ranges.

The club has 150-plus members.
