BALDWIN — Karlito McKinney was among the key eighth-grade players for Baldwin’s junior high football team this season.

He was a tailback on offense and a cornerback on defense. Staying focused was the key to the season, which ended in a 4-2 record, he said. He’s looking forward to helping the high school team next year. He’s hoping to develop his skills and get stronger for the varsity level.

Carmelo Lindsay played quarterback. He’s also an eighth grader.

He said his best game was a win against Brethren. Blocking helped the team in a major way.

“I can run,” Lindsay said. “I want to get stronger.”

Aveon Hobbs was another eighth grader and was at running back. His speed was an asset. He played junior high school ball in the past. Hobbs also played defensive end. Speed was a strength of the team, he added.
