BALDWIN — Jenna Johnson was a freshman when she placed eighth at the Division 4 track and field state finals in the 100-meter dash.

This Saturday at Hudsonville, Johnson will see how high she can finish in a state meet.

She competed last Friday at Crossroads in the Mitchell Creek Meet of Champions.

“Jenna did well and ran her best time of the year there (13.13),” Baldwin coach Scott Pedigo said.

Johnson ran a 13.44-second time at her state meet last season. Her preliminary time from the 2017 state meet of 13.10 stands as her personal record.

Johnson wouldn’t mind placing higher than last year, but Pedigo said the competition will be stiff.

“With the times we see, we’re hoping she makes the finals,” Pedigo said. “There’s a lot of really good times there.”
