BALDWIN — It’s been said there’s a first time for everything and Steve Williams would attest to that.

The Elkhart, Ind., resident and his friend played last Thursday at Marquette Trails Golf Club for the first time. They were up for a canoe trip.

“We’ve been coming up here for 10 years,” he said, also referring to his friend Jerry Bella.

They play golf back home about once a week and decided to try Marquette Trails for the first time.“It’s a very nice course, “Williams said. “It’s tough, nice greens.”

They both plan on returning and enjoyed the canoe trip along the Pere Marquette

They smiled when asked if they’re better golfers or canoeists.

The answer: better canoers.

They played their round last Thursday, just prior to the Thursday Night Men’s League at Marquette Trails.
