Graham enjoys strong bowling season

BALDWIN — He's been bowling 16 years at the Baldwin Bowling Center and Josh Graham doesn't know if it's possible to have more enjoyment than he experienced with the 2011-12 season.

This season, he bowled a 289 game at Baldwin lanes and also a 778 series. His series was the best for any bowler at the Baldwin lanes this season.

Graham also bowls at The Gate in Big Rapids and had a 296 game plus an 807 series.

Prior to the 778 in Baldwin, his best series had been a 761 in Baldwin. The best series he's had in Big Rapids, where he bowls in the Friday night men's league, has been an 807.

In his bowling career, Graham had a 300 game 11 years ago and he has had two 299 games.

The condition of lanes has been a boon for bowling success, Graham indicated.

His average at Baldwin this season was a 215 which, he indicated, is the highest since he's bowled at the facility. His previous high has been a 207.

Graham points to higher numbers for bowlers from “synthetic overlays and (better) lane conditions.” With that in mind, he would love hitting a 300 game and 800 series in the future.

But regardless of his scores, Graham has had an enjoyable bowling season.

“I like the guys I bowl with and the people here,” he said. “That's the main thing.”
