Government Lake wins four games

BALDWIN — Action in the Baldwin Men’s Slowpitch Softball League is heading into its second-season stretch.

In recent doubleheader action, Government Lake took two wins from Edie’s 13-11 and 17-10.

James Thomas had three home runs while Cregg Bolles had one for Government Lake in the twinbill.

Ray Maycock had four home runs for Edie’s and also a triple while Terry Linnen added some key hits.

“It’s been a struggle,” said Government Lake player Ken Cox. “We have a lot of guys who have never played softball. But we’re over. 500.”

Edie’s fell to 3-7.

There are six teams in the Baldwin Men’s Slowpitch League. Games are played Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Government Lake swept Barski’s 18-2 and 19-4 on Tuesday. Torey Warren pitched for Government Lake. The last play of the game, he fanned a batter on three called strikes.

Thomas had four home runs for Government Lake.

“We played good defense and hit the ball real well,” Thomas said.
