BALDWIN — It was set to be a busy week for the Baldwin Panther girls basketball team but the weather got in the way.

The Panthers were scheduled to play Thursday night at Walkerville and Friday at home with Grand Traverse Academy last week.

Both games were postponed because of the weather. The Grand Traverse game has been scheduled for Feb. 1 at home. There has been no word yet on the Walkerville-Baldwin makeup. The next scheduled games are Jan. 9 at Onekama and Jan. 11 at home with Brethren.

In their most recent game, the Panthers lost to Pentwater on Dec. 14, a 45-25 girls basketball victory Friday night in West Michigan D League action.

Pentwater led 8-0 before the Panthers were able to score. Trailing 22-7 at halftime, the Panthers put on a strong second half with eight points in the third quarter, trailing 32-15 going into the fourth.

“Our girls need to hustle a little more,” said Baldwin coach Antoinette Yiberhu. “The first half, they were slow and not reacting to things. There wasn’t a lot of boxing out or rebounding.”

Makayla George led Baldwin with 11 points.
