Girls basketball season ends for Baldwin

BALDWIN — Baldwin’s girls basketball season came to a close on Feb. 29, with a 61-22 setback to Buckley in Class D girls basketball action.

In the title game, McBain Northern Michigan Christian defeated Buckley 43-37.

“We tried our hardest,” said Baldwin senior Alex Torres. “We actually could have won. Our heads weren’t in the game like other games we usually have. Our teamwork was lacking.”

Baldwin’s season ended at 1-16. The Panthers also had four forfeit victories for an official 5-16 record.

“We never gave up,” Torres said. “We had good attitudes.”

Torres, the leading scorer on the team, will now focus on track season. She’ll run the sprints for the Panthers.
