Fisher sparks Panthers at linebacker position

BALDWIN -— Maverick Fisher had a fun game last Thursday when his Baldwin football team defeated Hale 46-0.

He’s hoping that the fun continues for awhile.

Fisher recovered a fumble in the end zone for the Panthers against Hale in the third quarter to help put the seal on the victory.

Fisher is a junior in his third varsity season. He started on the line as a freshman. He’s playing linebacker this season as a starter.

“I like (linebacker) a lot better,” he said. “There’s more action and you’re in the game more a little bit instead of blocking all the time.”

Fisher’s natural quickness helps him at that position.

Against Hale, “I think we played really well for the first game,“ Fisher said. “We’ll have lot of improvement for weeks to come. For starters, we’re going to do really well.”

The Panthers are at Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart on Friday.

“We’re going to have to improve on things we did wrong, start from there and keep pushing,” Fisher said. “I think we’ll at least compete for conference this year.”
