Fisher qualifies for state bowling finals

BALDWIN ― Baldwin senior Maverick Fisher has been making the most of his opportunities as a first-year varsity bowler.

Fisher has qualified for the Division 4 state finals Saturday in Lansing.

In the regional last weekend at Gaylord, Baldwin was seventh as a team out of 12 entries. Baldwin had a final score of 2,976. Rogers City won with a 3,446.

In singles, the top 10 finishers qualify for state. Fisher bowled a 1,023 to take 10th. The 11th place finisher was Zach Pederson, of Elk Rapids, at 1,021.

Also for Baldwin, Alan Clugston was 24th (926), Tyler Clugston (898) 28th, Brian Bradshaw 49th (812) and Brandon Kridler 60th (731).

In the girls meet, Baldwin was sixth (2,500). Rogers City (3,483) took first place. Rosie Lemieux (879) led Baldwin in 14th, four spots away from qualifying.

Brittany Bowling was 25th (776) and Christina McCarthy (741) 71st.

The state finals are Friday and Saturday at the Royal Scot Lanes in Lansing.
