B ALDWIN -- Baldwin boys basketball coach JJ Eads is getting his team ready this week for upcoming games, including his own personal reunion with Crossroads on Tuesday.

The Panthers had practice on Monday and will be scrimmaging at Evart on Friday.

"We had seven guys here today and a couple of guys out of town," Eads said after Monday practice. "Right now, it's working on basic fundamentals, defense, communication, and basically kind of like a camp."

Baldwin is home with Crossroads Charter Academy on Tuesday for West Michigan D League action.

Eads coached the last three years at Reed City and prior to that was a girls coach and athletic director at Crossroads. He was at CCA 12 years.

"That's going to be interesting," Eads said of Tuesday's game. "I know a couple of the kids and the staff and some teachers there. It's another game but obviously will be a little different."

Rusty Fullerton is CCA's coach. He formerly coached girls basketball at Baldwin.

Among Baldwin's top players has been freshman Carmelo Lindsey. The Panthers are 2-2.

"We did well our first two games," Lindsey said. "We improved for our next games. We need to improve definitely on defense."

Lindsey has been a top scorer but wants to keep improving. Scoring has been a strength but he wants to shoot better.

"I need to follow through more," he said. "Our defense is good but we need to work on it more, especially with the zone."
