Dockery looking to have strong track season

BALDWIN — He’s only a freshman, but Baldwin’s Blake Dockery has already been showing his potential for the Panthers in track and field this season.

Dockery and the team was scheduled for a league meet Wednesday, but it was canceled because of the weather.

There will be other meets coming up, including the Pine River Invitational on May 2.

Dockery is coming off from middle school track. In high school, he wants to beat his personal record of 19 feet in the long jump.

“It will take working out, practicing,” he said. “I have good explosion off the board.”

The practice schedule got the season off to a slow start, while Dockery and his teammates are trying to catch up and be competitive in their various upcoming meets.

“You just have to get out there and practice,” Dockery said.

He also competes in the 100 dash and relays. In the 100, Dockery wants to work on his starts.

In all his events, just like the rest of his teammates, Dockery is hoping to hit his best performances by the time the regional and league meets are on the schedule.
