BALDWIN — Baldwin is off to a 4-0 boys basketball start and Blake Dockery is playing no small role in that success

The Baldwin junior has been leading his team in its perfect start. In last week’s win over Pentwater, he had 28 points.

“I’ve been playing pretty well,” he said. “I think my role is bigger this year. I have to be more of a leader.”

Dockery doesn’t mind taking on additional duties, but he pointed out at the win last Thursday over Bear Lake that more players are scoring in recent games.

“We can’t overlook anybody,” Dockery said.

Staying out of foul trouble will be critical, he added.

The Panthers were whistled for 10 fouls in the first six minutes against Bear Lake.

“We have to play disciplined basketball,” he said.

Teammate Marty Banks is confident his Baldwin varsity basketball team can continue its winning ways.

“We did our best and we won,” he said last week after his team posted a win at home over Bear Lake. Banks has been looking to help the Panthers in various ways on the court.

“My strength is rebounding and layups,” he said. “I can help all the way around.”
