BALDWIN — Dexter Hossler has been a key player in his junior season for Baldwin boys basketball team, and is looking to help the Panthers win more games during the upcoming stretch of the season.

Hossler’s twin brother, Derrick, will be eligible to play for Baldwin in January. He had been at a different school, but transferred back to Baldwin and is currently ineligible.

It’s his full varsity season for Hossler. He saw some action last year with the varsity team.

“It’s been very challenging,” he said. “We re a very small team.”

Hossler has focused on defenses, although he’s also scored his fair share of points. “We’ve been doing pretty decent on defense,” he said. “I need to keep my head up and be relaxed.”

His best shot is free-throw shooting. Bending his knees is key toward hitting free throws. He also is strong in driving to the basket.

“Boxing out and defense” are keys for the team having success, Hossler said.
