Clugston giving Baldwin bowlers major boost

BALDWIN — Tyler Clugston and his Baldwin bowling teammates hope to finish strong by the end of the season.

Regionals are this weekend with a chance to qualify for the state finals on March 4-5.

In a recent home match at Baldwin Bowling Center, Clugston was enthusiastic on how much improvement his team was showing.

“Everybody was clicking,” he said. “That’s a problem we’ve had all season, one guy would be on and bowling great and the others not so much. It’s starting to come together now. We’ve all bowled great. Morale was high and we fed off each other. That’s a real good sign.”

Clugston also has been playing basketball. He was happy with the recent home performance.

“I got all my pickups, 10 pin wasn’t a problem for me,” he said afterward. “It wasn’t my absolute best, but not my worst either.”

During the summer, Clugston was frequently at the lanes working on his game.

“I jumped from about a 140 average to 180,” he said. “Summer work helped a lot. Nick (Miller, bowling coach) was down here all the time and helped me a lot.”

Clugston was focusing on having a strong conference finish. Now he and his teams can concentrate on the regional this week.
