BALDWIN — There’s expected to be a new face in the Baldwin athletic department.

Shawn Williams has served as the full-time AD the past five years, but acknowledged on Tuesday the job has been changed to part-time and has been posted.

He’s expected to leave on June 30 when his contact expires.

“I’ll be looking to do something different in the fall,” he said.

Williams will be looking for new endeavors. He said he feels good about what’s been accomplished in the past.

Baldwin has struggled with numbers but Williams indicated the numbers are strong on the junior high level.

Spring sports numbers have been down in recent years and baseball and softball teams have struggled for numbers. Williams said summer jobs open in the spring and with the district’s balanced calendar, student- athletes find it more challenging to play sports.

“I anticipate our numbers to be just as strong as they were the last five years,” he said.

Williams said he’ll miss the kids the most.

“I enjoy every day,” he said. “I look forward to coming in and working with these kids.”

Williams was an athlete at Baldwin and said he was influenced positively by his coaches.

“I’ve enjoyed my time,” he said.
