Burton provides Baldwin strength both ways

BALDWIN — Jacob Burton is among the key players for Baldwin’s football team this season.

At 6-0, 185, he’s a junior, who played varsity last season.

“Things went pretty good,” he said. “It’s an improvement from year to year.”

Burton plays offensive guard and defensive end. He made all-conference both ways. He did some work during the summer.

“I feel I’m getting stronger, and a little bit faster and smarter,” he said.

Burton is hoping to improve all around.

Baldwin opens the season Aug. 29 at Hale. The Panthers are defending West Michigan D League champs.

“We lost some players but we have some players to fill their spots,” Burton said. “We’ll be good, improved.”

The Panthers made the playoffs last season. “We’re looking to go farther,” Burton said. “We have to play as a team.”
