It was a memorable year in 2022 for Lake County Sports.

1-Baldwin 2021-22 boys basketball team

The Panthers won 15 games, led by junior Carmelo Lindsey, an All-State honorable mention player who was All-West Michigan D League. He averaged 20 points, eight rebounds, five steals and 3.5 assists per game.

2-Baldwin 2022-23 boys basketball team

The Panthers were 5-0 to start out the 2022-23 season under coach JJ Eads, led by Carmelo Lindsey and SJ Hossler, with hopes of a championship season.

3-Baldwin bowling team

The Baldwin bowlers had a strong team, led by Jesse Panica who returned to the Division 4 state finals and made it out of the qualifying round. Adam McClure and Rachel Carpenter were also state qualifiers.

4-Brandon Childress at Ferris

Former Baldwin All-Stater Brandon Childress won his second straight national championship ring as a wide receiver for NCAA Division II winners Ferris State.

5. Baldwin football

Under coach Robert Watkins and quarterback Carmelo Lindsey, the Panthers had a 2-5 season, winning their last game 82-26 over Rock Mid- Peninsula from the UP.

6. Baldwin volleyball

The Panthers had another competitive season under coach Duane Roberts and all-conference standout Naomi Marsh Robinson. A highlight was a 25-9, 25-18, 25-4 win over Crossroads.

7. Jenna Johnson at Siena Heights

Former standout Baldwin athlete Jenna Johnson is having a strong collegiate indoor track season at Siena Heights.

8. Varsity girls basketball returns to Baldwin

After a five-year absence, varsity girls basketball is back at Baldwin, with Rusty Fullerton taking over as coach.

9. Baldwin middle school boys

Under the coaching of Abe and Yvonne Williams, the Baldwin middle school boys team had another strong season in 2022.

10. Braeden Childress at Ferris

Former Baldwin sports standout Braeden Childress has transferred to Ferris and will join the Bulldog football program for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
