Baseball, softball teams ready for action

BALDWIN — If the weather cooperates, Baldwin’s baseball and softball teams will be seeing some action this week.

Coach Doug Bolles baseball squad had a twinbill Tuesday with Northern Michigan Christian called off. This week at home, Baldwin’s baseball and softball teams were scheduled to have nonleague games with Muskegon Heights.

“We can hit the ball and we can play pretty good defense,” said Baldwin softball coach Bob Hilts. “It’s all about pitching and catching. Alexis (Defrece) is doing better than she has. She’s coming along but I have to remember she’s a first-year pitcher who has never done it before. We’re working hard to get it done. It will be awhile.”

Next week, baseball and softball West Michigan D League games are set for Monday at Walkerville and April 28 at Brethren.

“We’re more than anxious to get games in,” Hilts said.
