Baldwin wins district game at Walkerville

Panthers advance to semifinal round

Baldwin 68, Walkerville 33

It was Baldwin (17-4) winning at Walkerville (3-18) to advance to the semifinal round on Wednesday where it was set to be at McBain Northern Michigan Christian to play Mason County Eastern (16-5) in a district semifinal.

MCE beat visiting Crossroads Charter Academy on Monday 68-17.

Baldwin was 3-0 vs. Walkerville this season. On Monday, Baldwin had 12-9, 35-18 and 46-28 quarter leads over Walkerville.

“It was a bit of a slow start, then we got going,” Baldwin coach JJ Eads said.

Carmelo Lindsey had 15 points, followed by Jalik Hawkins with 10 and Dante Rogers with seven.

Baldwin beat MCE last month in a showdown for second place in the league.

“We need to close out on their shooters and keep their post players off the boards,” Eads said. “We will need to control the tempo.”
