BALDWIN – Baldwin’s volleyball team is set to have a road match Thursday at Marion and then home matches next week with Manistee Catholic (Sept. 20) and Crossroads (Sept. 22).

The varsity Panthers lost to Pentwater 3-1 last Thursday on the road. The Panther JVs won four matches and lost four on Saturday at the Lakeview Invitational.

The junior high volleyball team played for the first time at Pentwater and lost some close matches.

“We’re proud of the way they’re playing and the direction our program is starting to go into,” Baldwin coach Duane Roberts said. “At Pentwater, the (varsity) was led offensively by (Abby) Oisten, plus Leila Haznederavic. She was on time with her attacks. Abby was putting it back to the corners and forcing Pentwater to make choicy plays.

“We saw some plays come out of Rebecca VanderGeld on the JVs as she went to have some good defense work as well. We ended up losing by a few points to Coleman and we ended up beating Vestaburg and Walkerville JV at the Invite and lost to Lakeview as well.”
