Baldwin volleyball team drops first match
BALDWIN — Tierra Pieske is on the varsity volleyball team for Baldwin, which made its debut at Marion on Monday.
“We actually did pretty good,” Pieske said. “We need a little bit more talking and more communicating.”
Marion won 3-0. The first game was 25-15 and the second game was 25-22. The third was 25-15.
Pieske plays all positions and said serving has been a strength.
“She played with me last year (on the junior high) and was my ace server,” middle school coach Brenda Buck said.
“You have to keep your eye on the ball,” Pieske said. “I like to set and bump.”
To be a good serve receiver, “you have to be down and ready and keep your eye on the ball,” Pieske said.
Coach Duane Roberts’ team plays at Manistee Catholic Central on Thursday and will be at the Pentwater Invitational on Saturday.
The first home match is Sept. 18 with Crossroads. Other home matches are Oct. 2 with Brethren, Oct. 4 with Bear Lake and Oct. 16 with Mason County Eastern.
