Baldwin volleyball team defeats Heights
BALDWIN — It was a fun way for the Baldwin girls to end their home volleyball season.
The Panthers defeated Muskegon Heights in a nonleague match 3-1. It was the second time this season Baldwin defeated Muskegon Heights.
“We practiced a few out-of-game and future rotations,” Baldwin coach Duane Roberts said. “Scores were close on games that we lost. Players were good sports. Mariah (Sowle), Ally (See), and Monica (Truxton) had nice serves.”
Roberts also was encouraged with other parts of the Panthers’ game.
“We had very nice ground coverage from senior libero Janay Scales,” he said. “We celebrated Janay’s last home game of her senior year.”
The Panthers closed out their schedule with nonleague action on Thursday at Evart, a team the Panthers defeated last season.
Other players on the team have been Alexis Mooney, Riley Drilling, Areyanna Boatwright, Diamond Cannon, Elexus Pieski, Jenna Johnson, Alyssa Barnad, Jazlynn Johnson and Kathryn Higbee.
In the conference tourney, “we took either fifth or sixth,” Roberts said. “We beat Manistee Catholic, but lost to Pentwater and Walkerville.”
Baldwin will continue to prepare for the Class D district tournament which starts on Oct. 31 at Pentwater and continues throughout the week.
