Baldwin volleyball team continues its season

BALDWIN – Baldwin’s volleyball team was scheduled to play host Mesick on Wednesday of this week in a Division 4 district semifinal game.

Last week, Baldwin played at Benzonia against Bear Lake and Benzie Central in a tri-meet.

The game with Benzie Central “was a pretty decent game,” Baldwin coach Duane Roberts said. “We were working with a new rotation after the departure of some of my other players. So we were running with a younger rotation and then adjusting to spots and how to read and communicate. A few of the key JV girls were brought up and saw a lot of playing time like Carmen Serna, Brittney Hull-Sanders, Abbigail Pontz.”

Baldwin lost 3-0 to Benzie and beat Bear Lake 3-0.

“The Bear Lake match was neck and neck for awhile,” Roberts said. “We kind of got started slow. Daisy Simmons gave me all she could on the court. She was diving all over the floor and try to save every ball she could. Krista Simmons was in the front row and was playing. What saved us was our ability to serve.”
