Baldwin volleyball sophomore eyes improvement

Krista Simmons

BALDWIN – Krista Simmons is a sophomore for Baldwin’s volleyball team, who is expected to be a key player this season for coach Duane Roberts

Simmons played junior varsity a year ago and had a strong season. She’s looking to be on varsity.

“It’s faster and stronger than the junior varsity,” Simmons said.

Spiking is among her strengths.

“Timing” is important as a hitter, said Simmons, who considers herself to be a good jumper.

Her goal continues to be a hard hitter and having the ability to keep it in play.

There wasn’t too much of an opportunity for summer volleyball, Simmons said. But with practices having started on Monday, the Panthers are working to get into game shape. The season starts later this month at Kingsley.
