BALDWIN — It was summer volleyball time for Baldwin coach Antoinette Yiberhu, who had the nets up last week for a multi-day camp.

The sessions were attended mainly by elementary and junior high aged girls.

“A lot of the high school girls were at a college doing college prep type things,’ Yiberhu said. “We’ll probably get together at the end of July and work on fine tuning. We did a lot of basic skills this week.

The camp last week went four days, two hours each day. There were about 15 to 20 girls each day.

“We had a really good week with the girls,” Yiberhu said. “We had a lot of girls come the whole week. They worked really hard. There was a great improvement. It was their basic passing, setting and spiking. We worked a lot on overhand serving.”

Yiberhu had been basketball coach but said he has stepped down from that position and she’ll focus on volleyball this season. The practice season starts Aug. 14. Matches will start the following week.

Yiberhu will be in her third season as volleyball coach. She was varsity basketball coach for two seasons.
