Baldwin track team scores points at Marion event

BALDWIN — It was an impressive debut for Baldwin’s track team last Thursday at the Marion Invitational.

Senior Aaron Thomas led the Baldwin attack with four medals. He was sixth in the 100 in 12.4 seconds and took fourth in the 200-meter dash. He was on the 400 relay team that also consisted of Martel and Darius Forest and Andon Ware that took third place.

Martel Forest covered 17-11 in the long jump for third place. Jacob Butler took third in the shot put with a threw of 41-7 ½.

For the Baldwin girls, Alex Torres was third in the long jump at 14-2. She was third in the 100-meter dash at 13.04 seconds and sixth in the 400-meter relay in 1:00.72.

Also on the relay was Erin Lewis, Christina Defrece and Brittany Grant.

Baldwin also had an 800-meter coed relay team that was second in 1:53. The team consisted of David Chrysler, Thomas, Torres and Defrece.

“They looked real strong,” said Baldwin coach Abe Williams. “We’ve had to move people around. We want to see how they compete in an event.”

Baldwin is set to compete in a meet at Mesick on Saturday and also in a West Michigan D League jamboree on May 4, plus in a Great Lakes meet May 6 at Beal City.
