Baldwin track team brings home medals from Mesick Invitational

BALDWIN — Andon Ware brought home four medals to highlight Baldwin’s boys track team performance Saturday at the Mesick Invitational.

Ware threw the discus 100-7 for third place and covered 17-5 in the long jump for third place. He was on the 400-meter relay team that took second place in 47.7 and was with the 800-meter team that was third in 1:42.5.

Ware was joined on the 400-meter relay team with Aaron Thomas, Martel Forest and Darius Forest and on the 800 team by Thomas, Martel Forest and Dave Crysler.

Thomas also took fourth place in the 100-meter dash in 12.4 seconds and fourth in the 200-meter dash in 25.49 seconds.

For the girls, Alex Torres was first in the long jump at 14-1. She was also in the 400-meter dash, which included Britney Grant, Erin Lewis and Kristen Defrece.

Shavonne Copeland threw the shot put 20-7 for third place.

“It was very gratifying,” Baldwin coach Abe Williams said. “As an overall team, we had over 20 medals. Just about everybody on the team got a medal.”

This week Baldwin is at Onekama on Wednesday for a West Michigan D League jamboree and at the Great Lakes Invitational at Beal City on Friday.
