BALDWIN – Baldwin track coach Bob Watkins is looking forward to next season with hopes of more performers and more scoring.
He’s also hoping in November, voters approve a bond issue which would include the building of a new track.
“That way, our kids can practice on a facility instead of running on asphalt,” Watkins said. “It would be a regular rubberized track. We would be able to host conference meets and have invitationals. There’s not many junior high meets out there.”
Baldwin’s current track is not rubberized and trying to run on it too much can cause shin splints, Watkins said.
Bond issue passage would mean getting pole vault and high jump pits and hurdles, Watkins said.
