BALDWIN — Baldwin had two participants in Saturday’s Division 4 track and field state meet at Hudsonville.

But both long jumper Blake Dockery and 100-meter sprinter Jenna Johnson fell short of their goals of being all-staters.

Dockery, a senior was third in the long jump at the 2017 state finals and had hopes of winning it this year. But he jumped 19 feet, 11 inches and took 20th place.

“He had two scratches and only got three jumps in the first round,” athletic director Shawn Williams said. “We had graduation the night before and he competed the following day. I’m proud of him. He had a strong career.”

Johnson was 16th in 13.54 and didn’t make it to the finals. She placed eighth last year.

The Panthers hope to have more of a full team next year.

It was the last performance for athletes for the 2017-2018 season.

Williams anticipates a list of fall sports coaches to be finalized soon.
