BALDWIN – Wildlife activity has been picking up in the Lake County area and longtime sportsman Jim Warren likes what he sees.

“There’s a lot of deer,” Warren said. “You can’t believe the deer we’re getting on our trail cam. We’ve got least two 10-pointers on the property.”

The bear population continues to thrive.

“We just can’t keep the bears out of here,” Warren said. “They’re just terrible here. We’ve got a guy around here with a grill and the bears just tear it up every night. He likes pork chops and all of that stuff.”

Fishing on the lakes continues to be successful.

“We’ve been building some new deer blinds,” Warren said. “We’ve found it’s been a lot cheaper to go to places and buy one then to go to the lumber yard and buy the lumber.

“There’s nothing to hunt yet. We’ve been seeing some baby turkeys. They’re not very big. You see an awful lot of them. That’s one good sign. On my calendar, I’ve got listed bass fishing at some lakes where we do well.”
